Prospective Tutors

Thank you for your interest in becoming a tutor at Neighborhood House!  For an overview of our program, please refer to the About section of our site.

Our tutors are expected to commit to at least one tutoring session per week.  Tutors will work with the same student at the same time and day each week.  As tutoring sessions are one hour long, tutors should plan on a two hour commitment each week to include prep and reporting time.

A four month commitment is required to serve as a tutor.

Please refer to the Tutor Position Description for more detail.

If you have any questions about becoming a tutor, please contact Ellen Klemme at 651-789-2532. If you would like to apply to become a tutor, please fill out this application and email it to Riley Karbon.  Please indicate that you would like to volunteer for the tutoring program.  You may also mail in your application to the address found on the form.

    Greetings,

I could not open the Application Form document.

I am qualified to assist with reading, ESL, and writing. I have an MA in ESL and many year of teaching reading and writing at the college level and elementary levels. I have a K-12 teaching license from the State of California.

My best match might be with a high school and upper elementary student where lies the bulk of my teaching experience (older students). I’d work best with a highly motivated student.

I think that I can arrange for a Tuesday or Wednesday. I have a heavy schedule, nonetheless, I like for this to work to be of assistance.

    Herb
